The Ultimate Guide To Red Earrings
Posted on 27 September 2016
There is no colour quite as evocative as red. Regardless of its countless names and seemingly endless hues (think magenta, scarlet, vermillion, ruby, cardinal, burgundy and cerise to name a few), it has always been the colour of love, passion, power and lust. There has never been a colour that can convey so much with its shades. |
Originally expensive to extract, it was limited to those who could afford the luxury. Now things have changed and red is utilised in all facets of fashion. It works well if you want to look good on a budget and also for when you feel like a bit of indulgence. |

There is a fabulous array of red earrings available for any occasion, but in general, when matching coloured earrings it is useful to keep a few guidelines in mind. |
Let your earrings follow the rule of contrast in that they provide a contrast to the rest of your outfit. If your outfit is made up of more than one colour, establish the dominant colour and match your earrings to that. As a rule of thumb, red usually goes well with shades of green, a look that we very often see on the red carpet. Red also offers a stark contrast to a black outfit. The contrast between the two colours can be seductive and is a good choice if you are after something bold. |

Another thing to be mindful of is that red comes in a variety of hues, so it’s important to keep an eye out for slight variations between your clothing and your accessories. As an example, the hue of your pendant might be slightly different to the rest of your jewellery. This is considered a sin when it comes to accessorising. It’s always better to match coloured jewellery accessories with plain ones rather than having slightly different hues of the same colour. |

And finally, choose the correct piece for the occasion. It’s important to understand the occasion you are dressing for, never more so than when your accessories are red. Look at your outfit as a whole and ensure that your earrings match the entire look. Red earrings can be used as subtle additions to your outfit or they can be statement pieces which go well with an evening attire. |
Red is a sensational colour, a colour that can convey so much. It is associated with passion, love, heat, danger, anger, love and joy. Never has there been a colour so diverse, so meaningful. Red earrings are wonderful in that they can accentuate the perfect outfit, add some colour and flair, and turn an evening into one that is ready for romance. |
